Deduplications and Compression

Across all protected sites, support is provided for local/client-side deduplication at LAN level and also for global deduplication. Identification is done for duplicate data by checking the same data if queued for backup more than once. As the data is compared on the basis of its content, so it hardly matters if files are on different servers or with different names. As the common data can be there at any point of time so as a continuous process the common data is stored in the respective repository and a pointers are used to point from the data’s original location to the library location.
To make optimum utilization of bandwidth and other resources the full back up is taken at a start of back up activity but later data is backed up on incremental basis.
Data compression depends on data type and there is in-built intelligence which detects compressed files and re-compression of already compressed files is skipped.
